The Difference Between ACV and RCV Roof Insurance

The Difference Between ACV and RCV Roof Insurance

Extreme weather seems to be more and more common each year. The damage these weather events cause can make things difficult for you and your family. Knowing what type of insurance coverage you have can be incredibly helpful. If something happens and you know exactly how your insurance will react, you can’t be blindsided during a crisis. Honey Bees Roofing & Solar knows that roofing insurance can be confusing, but we have a ton of experience helping customers like you. We’re using that experience to describe the difference between ACV and RCV roof insurance. What is RCV? Replacement cash value, or RCV, is coverage that guarantees the policyholder will get enough money to replace damaged items that are covered by the policy. However, it will only be enough to get items that are similar. For example, if your car is under an RCV insurance policy and is totaled, you’ll be able to buy a car of the same model and year. It wouldn’t be enough for you to buy a brand new corvette. Replacement cash value coverage has a higher deductible than ACV coverage. However,  you usually only have to pay your deductible out of pocket, everything else should be covered. What is ACV? Actual cash value, or ACV, is coverage that gives the policyholder money that the damaged items are worth when you make the claim. ACV unfortunately keeps the depreciation of your property in mind when it pays out its claims. So if an item is old or damaged, you’ll get less money back to replace it. If your roof is past its prime and needs to be replaced you’ll get significantly less money back. The claims adjuster will determine exactly how much your property has depreciated. They inspect your roof to determine how much it’ll take to replace it, its current condition, and how long it could last. Using that information they determine how much to give to you. What’s Better? The main differences between ACV and RCV roof insurance are claims payout and deductible price. Actual cash value and replacement cash value both have their benefits. RCV typically pays out more, since it’ll cover the whole replacement. But, it does have a higher deductible you’ll have to worry about. On the flip side, ACV doesn’t have a deductible that is quite as high. However, ACV might not cover an entire replacement, so you’ll have to pay more out of pocket. Sometimes you can recover some of the depreciation of your property, but it’s not typical. Meet With Your Insurance Adjuster Having to replace your roof is difficult. Whether you have ACV or RCV coverage, the insurance process can be stressful. Luckily, Honey Bees Roofing & Solar is here to help. We’ll meet with you and your insurance adjuster on-site to discuss the restoration plan for your home. We’ll help you navigate the homeowner’s insurance claims process, thus relieving you of stress and helping you get the best reimbursement you’re entitled to under your insurance policy. Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Support

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder

Honey Bees Roofing & Solar is passionate about our community and wants to help everyone with understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that occurs in about 1 in 54 Americans. Up until 2013, there were five different autism spectrum disorders. However, many of these classifications shared symptoms and conditions. The American Psychiatric Association made things easier by making one umbrella term for all of the types of autism, which encompasses the Autism Spectrum Disorder we know today. ASD is currently characterized as “persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts”, as well as “restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities.” Social Interaction Social “norms” can be difficult to achieve for someone with ASD. Using hand gestures, body language, and facial expressions that may be inappropriate to the current situation is a symptom of autism spectrum disorder. Understanding social cues can also be an issue for someone with ASD. Someone with ASD might also be resistant to being touched. This can all add up to difficulty making friends with people of the same age. The difficulty in social interaction can also make someone less likely to try and be social.  That leads to a preference for solitude. Patterns of Behavior Those with autism spectrum disorder may have consistent, specific behaviors. Constantly moving, or repetitive body movements can be a symptom of ASD. Things like always spinning, rocking, or hand flapping. Becoming obsessively attached to unusual objects, like keys, rubber bands, or light switches, can also be a symptom. Being interested in moving pieces or specific parts of toys is fairly common for ASD. For example, entertaining themselves by playing with a toy car’s wheels, instead of the whole car. Some people with autism spectrum disorder may react extremely to different sensory stimulation. Things like specific feeling fabrics, loud noises, or indifference to pain and temperature. Also, the need for a strong, regular routine and order may be an indication. Differences in Speech Struggling with speech and language is common for those with ASD. Some children with autism spectrum disorder may have a delay in learning to speak compared to other children. Difficulty communicating what they need or want, or starting and keeping a conversation can be frequent. People with ASD may also speak in abnormal pitch, cadence, or tone of voice. They may also repeat words or phrases without any intention of communicating with them. Autism spectrum disorder can make it difficult to understand simple statements. It can also create difficulty in understanding humor, irony, or sarcasm by taking things at face value. Raising a child with autism spectrum disorder and understanding autism spectrum disorder may seem difficult, but it is a worthwhile journey. If you want to contact a local parent with a child that has been diagnosed with ASD in the Burleson area, contact our founder Daniel at daniel@honeybeesroofing.com. He’ll be glad to talk with you about your situation and share information that may help you and your family.

The Importance of Honey Bees in North Texas
Bee Facts

The Importance of Honey Bees in North Texas

Honey bees are magnificent creatures. They are the workhorse of the animal kingdom and keep our world turning. In North Texas, the humble honey bee has major importance to the community and economy. At Honey Bees Roofing & Solar we appreciate honey bees and all they do for our home and community. The importance of honey bees in North Texas is something we’d like to share with you, so you might have a better appreciation for our buzzing friends. Honey The most obvious thing honey bees do is make honey! Day in and day out domestic and wild honey bees are making their namesake, sticky and sweet honey. Honey bees kept by beekeepers make millions of pounds of honey. In 2019, Texas alone made 7.4 million pounds of honey. Texas beekeepers sell the honey to the community, but also worldwide. Selling at an average of $8 to $10 per pound retail, honey bees are a staple to the North Texas economy. Pollination Another major importance of honey bees in North Texas is their pollination ability. Most pollination in Texas is carried out by bees. Pollination is what allows all plants to reproduce. Without honey bees, most plant life would cease to exist. One-third of food eaten by Americans is pollinated by the noble honey bee. Things like cotton, vegetables, citrus, corn, wheat, peanuts, and pecans all require bees to keep growing year after year. All of those things are also major crops for Texas. Not only do bees hold up the entire ecosystem with pollination, but also every farm in the world counts on it. Without honey bees, many of the crops North Texas depends on would not be able to grow. Bee Trouble Honey bees are in trouble. The populations of domestic and wild bees are starting to decline. This is in part due to Africanized bees as well as a multitude of parasites and diseases that threaten bees. Africanized bees are much more aggressive and territorial than normal bees. This aggression extends to other bees as well as humans, causing a threat to native Texan bees. Varroa mites, a parasite that affects bees, are also a large problem in the bee community. They can destroy whole colonies, as well as infect bees with viruses to spread even more damage. The threats bees face are growing, and that’s a worry for North Texas. Honey bees are an important part of our farmland, nature, and economy. We should work to help the honey bee, so they can continue to help us. Honey bees are vital to the ecosystem of Texas and beyond. By providing North Texas with honey, and pollinating our plants they are an important part of our community. At Honey Bees Roofing & Solar, we strive to be like the noble honey bee. By making sure our work is top of the line as well as efficient, we can ensure we’re doing our best to better our local community. How do Honey Bees Build Their Hives
Bee Facts

How do Honey Bees Build Their Hives?

Honey bees are amazing creatures and have always inspired us at Honey Bees Roofing & Solar. Bees are hard-working and diligent creatures that are always working towards what’s best for the hive. However, not everyone knows quite what goes into the work of the honey bees. One major job for honey bees is building and caring for their hive, but how do honey bees build their hives? Creating the Materials Honey bees make their hives out of hexagonal tubes made of wax. When a worker bee turns around ten days old they become able to create this wax, using sugar content from honey. The bees secrete the wax from their abdomen. After secreting the wax, bees gather it and soften it by chewing the wax. The honey bees then work together to work with the wax to create the six-sided tubes, or cells, that make up the hive. They repeat this process thousands of times to build up the honeycombs they’ll live in. Just one hive can house 100,000 individual cells all made by the worker bees. Bees store honey near the top of the hive. They store pollen around the middle of the hive and use the lower-most cells to raise the honey bee queen’s larvae. Why Hexagons? Honeycomb is the broad term for the structure of hexagonal cells inside a beehive. But why do bees always use hexagons? Well, a roman known as Pappus of Alexandria hypothesized that it allowed for the hive to spend less wax and energy creating the wall, while simultaneously maintaining as much storage space and structure as possible. This was proven correct in 1999 by mathematician Thomas C Hales and is now known as the Honeycomb Conjecture. Honey bees have been using advanced building techniques for thousands of years to maintain their homes. They even measure each cell using their bodies to make each cell perfectly. Where Hives are Located Honey bees can live all over the world, both in the wild and in domestication. In the wild, they try to create hives off of the ground, like in trees and rock crevices. They also will rarely make their homes inside the walls of buildings. Honey bees in temperate climates have to store large amounts of honey as insulation for their nests in the warmer months. More tropical bees don’t need to keep as much honey on hand since the weather is more consistently warm. Honey bees build their hives using wax they can secrete to make mathematically efficient honeycombs to get the most out of their space. They work hard every day for the betterment of their community. At Honey Bees Roofing & Solar, we strive to be like the noble honey bee. By making sure our work is top of the line as well as efficient, we can ensure we’re doing our best to better our local community. Understanding the Roofing Insurance Process

Understanding the Roofing Insurance Process

A damaged roof can cause tons of stress because it threatens your family, and your property. This stress often amplifies due to navigating the insurance process. Honey Bees Roofing & Solar pride ourselves in our ability to help our customers with understanding the roofing insurance process, so you’ll have one less thing to worry about. Assess the Damage If you believe you have roofing damage you’ll need to figure out the extent of the damage. Sometimes the damage is severe, perhaps from a recent strong storm passing through your town. In this case, document any damage on and off the roof. This includes any destroyed pieces from your home, as the insurance adjuster may wish to inspect them. Make sure to write down and/or photograph anything that was destroyed, damaged, or lost. However, no matter how much damage your roof has, consider contacting a professional for a free roof inspection. Many roofing contractors offer free roofing inspections so you won’t have to risk your safety climbing onto your own roof. Also, a professional inspection offers insight into the damage that will be helpful to you. You’ll be able to get your roof’s damage documented safely from the ground. Avoid Scammers Obvious roof damage and bad storms can easily attract scammers and storm chasers looking to get your money and provide little to no service. Avoiding roofing scams may seem difficult, but we’ve outlined tips in the link earlier in this sentence to help you. If a roofing contractor is from out of town, they might perform the repairs, but surely won’t be there for any necessary warranty work. They’ll offer repairs or replacements to your damaged roof. They may ask for payment upfront, and then never see you again. It’s also worth noting that you can’t waive a deductible. If you try, you, the person who submits the invoice to the insurance company, have committed fraud! You’ll be the one in trouble since you submitted the invoice and “violators could get up to a $2,000 fine and up to six months in jail.” Begin Your Insurance Claim Talk to your insurance provider as soon as possible. Some insurance claims have a time limit, so starting it quickly will be beneficial. Keep your insurance documents on hand, as well as lists of anything damaged or broken. Even though your home owner’s insurance will absolutely need to be called, you may also have to call your auto insurance agency. If your car is damaged, you’ll have to notify your car insurance, even if it was in your garage. Meet With Your Insurance Adjuster After the claim has started your insurance will send out a claims adjuster to assess the damage. They’ll inspect the damage on behalf of your insurance company. After this inspection, make sure to give them everything you’ve collected pertaining to your home’s damage. They’ll send the information to the insurance company with their assessment of the damage. This process can be quite stressful, but Honey Bees Roofing & Solar is here to help. We’ll meet with you and your insurance adjuster on-site to discuss the restoration plan for your home. We’ll help you navigate the homeowner’s insurance claims process, thus relieving you of stress and helping you get the best reimbursement you’re entitled to under your insurance policy. If you need help with roof repairs or understanding the roofing insurance process, Contact Honey Bees Roofing & Solar online or give us a call today at 817-668-6131!

F Wave Roofing
Asphalt Shingles, Roofing

F Wave Roofing

The onward march of technology continues to improve every aspect of our lives. Without a doubt, roofing is no exception! Every day the technology in roofing gives us the tools to serve our customers more efficiently and effectively. One improvement in the roofing world that you may want to keep an eye on is F Wave roofing and its synthetic shingles. Luckily, Honey Bees Roofing & Solar has all the info on F Wave Shingles so you’ll know if they’ll be right for your roofing project! What are Synthetic Shingles? F Wave has created revolutionary new shingles known as REVIA synthetic shingles. Most shingles are made of asphalt but can also be made of vinyl, wood, or slate. Unlike those singles, these shingles are made of a commercial-grade polymer. The polymer comes in a wide variety of styles and colors. Shingles made of asphalt have granules that will inevitably wear off and leave your roof vulnerable. Synthetic shingles last longer than asphalt shingles because they don’t have granules. Each synthetic shingle is one whole piece. Asphalt shingles, however, have glued layers that make up their construction. The layers of asphalt shingles breaking over time will lead to them having to be replaced much sooner than synthetic shingles. Not only are REVIA shingles built to last longer, they’re also built with more resistance against hail, wind, and fire than other shingles. Hail Resistance REVIA synthetic shingles have high hail resistance. Areas with inclement weather, such as north Texas, can benefit from extra protection for their roof. These synthetic shingles have a class 4 impact rating! That is the highest possible rating available to a shingle. When a shingle can withstand having a 2-inch steel ball dropped multiple times from a height of 20 feet, it receives a class 4 rating. The same test can crack a concrete brick in half! These synthetic shingles can take a beating. Wind Resistance Asphalt shingles have a low tear rating, and a tendency to blow off your roof if they’re nailed on improperly. REVIA synthetic shingles on the other hand have superior tear resistance. They can also survive high winds that most roofing material struggles to withstand. Synthetic shingles can withstand winds up to 130mph. That’s hurricane-force winds. Torn-off shingles can lead to leaks and water damage as water enters where roofing should be. Fire Resistance REVIA synthetic shingles have a class 4 fire rating. That’s the highest rating a shingle can get for fire resistance. That rating means that fire on these shingles will spread to a maximum of six feet, and won’t spread to the attic. It also won’t burn for an extended period of time. Since these shingles are so fire-resistant, if your roof does catch fire it severely lessens the chance your home will take major damage. The REVIA shingles are a very safe option for your home.   F Wave roofing is superior to asphalt shingle roofing. It has better resistance to fire, wind, and hail, and also lasts longer than normal asphalt shingles. They are also aesthetically pleasing and a perfect fit for your home. For more information on getting REVIA synthetic shingles on your home, Contact Honey Bees Roofing & Solar online or give us a call today at 817-668-6131!

Most Popular Roofing Styles In North Texas

Most Popular Roofing Styles In North Texas

There are many important decisions to be made when planning your next roofing project. Whether it’s the roof of your home, or an outside structure like a gazebo or patio, the roofing you choose will last for years. One of the biggest factors in choosing what roofing you want is what style of roofing you prefer. Luckily, Honey Bees Roofing & Solar knows all about the most popular roofing styles in North Texas. Equipped with this information you’ll be able to make an informed decision for your home’s roof. Shingle Roofing One of the most popular roofing styles worldwide is shingle roofing. This is largely due to the fact that shingle roofing typically provides the most cost-effective option. Shingles may not be the most durable option since they are built in layers and covered in granules to protect from the sun. They are also often quickly installed, and if done improperly, a shingle roof’s lifespan is dramatically decreased. Severe weather such as high winds and hail can do serious damage to shingle roofing as well. If you have shingles on your roof, make sure to get a free roof inspection after any major storm. One major benefit of shingle roofing, however, is the ease and low cost of repair. Shingles often require only a few minutes to repair for simple repairs. Shingles come in a wide variety of colors that can increase your home’s value, as well as add curb appeal! Metal Roofing Metal roofing has been growing in popularity in recent years. It’s incredibly environmentally friendly as the main material that metal roofing uses, aluminum, can be reshaped and reused almost an infinite number of times. Metal roofs also provide an energy-efficient option, protecting your wallet from high energy bills. Durability is also a major appeal to metal roofing. While hail can dent metal roofs, they offer more durability than other roofing types. Metal roofing can withstand almost anything nature has to offer. On top of that, metal roofing has a massive array of options for color and style. Different styles and colors allow homeowners to find their perfect choice when choosing an aluminum roof. Tile Roofing One of the longest-lasting roofing options, tile roofing has been used for thousands of years. Using the technology of today to enhance tile roofing improves its lifespan and durability. While it is one of the more expensive types of roofing, tile roofing provides a unique look that any home can benefit from. Its many colors and tile shapes offer a more rustic feel that can’t be beaten. However, not all homes can take the increased weight from tile roofs have, so make sure to get the roofing supports of your home inspected. With proper maintenance, tile roofing can last for a very long time. Your roof is one of the most important aspects of your home. Picking one of the most popular roofing styles in North Texas is a choice that will add value and curb-appeal to your home. No matter what you choose, shingles, metal, or tile, make sure it’s a choice that you’ll love for years to come. If you’re looking for a new roof to spruce up your home Contact Honey Bees Roofing & Solar online or give us a call today at 817-668-6131! We’ll help you with your roofing decision and be by your side for the entire service.

The sooner you start your claim the sooner your insurance provider will provide the financial support to repair or replace anything damaged. However, most insurance policies require you to start your insurance claim within one year of the damage occurring. That gives you some time if life gets in the way and you’re unable to start the process quickly. Keep in mind, not all insurance policies are the same so you should call your insurance provider to determine the exact time frame you have for your policy. What to Know Before Your Solar Installation
Solar Installation

What to Know Before Your Solar Installation

Installing solar panels on your home is a worthwhile investment. Energy bills are expensive, especially in Texas where energy bills trend about 20% higher than the rest of the country. Solar panels cut that cost by creating your own energy. They also increase the worth of your home. However, there are some things that you may want to consider before jumping into solar energy for your home. Honey bees Roofing & Solar helps you understand what to know before your solar installation. Your Roof’s Condition The condition of your roof is a major factor to consider if you’re interested in solar power. Your roof may need repairs or may need an update. Getting your roof checked is important since solar panels can make future repairs more difficult. Repairs that aren’t fixed prior to installation may get worse. Another consideration that needs to be made is your roof’s ability to bear weight. Solar panels can be heavy, and if your roofing can’t support the weight it will cause problems for your home. Adding supports to your roof may be required. If you need your roof inspected to see if it’s ready for solar panels, contact Honey bees Roofing & Solar for a free roof inspection! How Much Sunlight Do You Get? The way the sun hits your roof determines how effective solar panels will be for your home. One big factor is the direction your roof slopes. If the slope of your roof isn’t ideal, you might not get enough direct sunlight to make solar panels worth it. Some experts suggest that a southern-facing roof offers the most direct sun. However, other experts say a western-facing roof is a way to go. A professional inspection will help determine how efficiently your roof will collect sunlight. You may also have to cut trees or other vegetation to give your roof the max amount of sunlight possible. Your Electricity Consumption When you get solar panels, your energy consumption will change. If you are incredibly efficient with your consumption you may be able to disconnect yourself from the electric grid. Although, you’ll probably need to get batteries to keep energy available when the sun isn’t out. If you stay connected to the grid then there are benefits, however. Most states have programs that incentivize staying on the power grid. If you make more power than you need with solar panels,  you typically make money back. In Texas, there are a ton of benefits to getting solar power, especially if you stay on the grid. No matter what, solar power will lower your electric bill. Now you have all the information you need to know before your solar installation. After considering the state of your roof, how the sun hits your home, and if your energy consumption would benefit from solar energy you’ll be ready to make a decision. If you want a free estimate on solar power for your roof or a free roof inspection to determine your roof’s condition, Contact Honey Bees Roofing & Solar online or give us a call today at 817-668-6131!
